It is narrated from Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: A Jewish scholar asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "Which land is the best?" The Prophet remained silent and said, "I will remain silent until Jibril comes." He remained silent, and Jibril came and asked. Jibril said, "The one being asked is not more knowledgeable than the one asking, but I will ask my Lord, the Blessed and Exalted." Then Jibril said, "O Muhammad, I drew closer to Allah than I have ever been before." The Prophet asked, "How was it, O Jibril?" Jibril replied, "There were seventy thousand veils of light between me and Him. He said, 'The worst places are its markets, and the best places are its mosques.'"
