Zujajat al-Masabih 26Volume 1

English

Amr ibn al-ʿAs (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "Extend your right hand so I may pledge allegiance to you." He extended his right hand, but I withdrew mine. He said: "What is the matter with you, O Amr?" I replied: "I wish to stipulate something." He asked: "What do you wish to stipulate?" I said: "That I be forgiven." He replied: "Do you not know, O Amr, that Islam erases what came before it, that migration erases what came before it, and that Hajj (pilgrimage) erases what came before it?" 1
